Zip Slide Across the Clyde
A Leap in the Right Direction..........25th July 2010 (depending on the weather!!!)
Jump 130ft off a platform for a great view of the River Clyde! Why not?
That’s exactly what our Managing Director, Yosof Ewing and Marketing Manager, Lynne Sneddon, are going to do in aid of Scottish Sports Future (SSF) to help raise funds for the charity. Not only will the spectacular views of Glasgow be worth jumping off the 130ft (40m) platform for, but the adrenaline rush from flying 1000ft (105m) over the River Clyde suspended from a wire will be second to none.
Sounds exciting! Well they will just have to put their trust in the harness and rigging and enjoy the ride. And trust it they will. After all Trust is the value that underpins everything we do at ConstructPRO. With trust comes confidence, with confidence comes performance, and with performance comes tangible benefits, in this case, the rush of adrenaline, spectacular views and raising money for a good cause.
Sadly, many young people seem to have lost trust and confidence. All too often we see news reports about underage drinking and antisocial behaviour among young people. After discussing with Michelle she explained that the organisation’s aim is to help those young people most at risk to the many negative influences of society build trust and gain confidence so they can make positive choices in their lives.
ConstructPRO believe that as a business, we rely on the support and vibrancy of the communities we live and work in. We developed our Giving Back program so that we could contribute to those communities in a positive way. After talking with Michelle we were encouraged to do something to support the positive changes the SSF is trying to bring about through its sports programs for young people.
The SSF’s efforts certainly seem to be paying off. Strathclyde Police reported that their projects have proven capable of influencing a decrease in youth-related crime, with a 15% reduction in youth crime reported in east Glasgow and significant drops in race-related incidents and violence.
The organisation uses basketball as a positive diversion for introducing young people, especially those living in disadvantaged communities, to sport and healthy living. It currently coordinates the Twilight Basketball and Jump2it programs and has a number of other projects planned for the next 3 years.
The SSF is aiming high, and that’s exactly what Yosof and Lynne will be doing on the 25th of July. So please help them raise money to support this worthwhile charity by making a donation on their JustGiving page: http://www.justgiving.com/ConstructPRO
And if you can, come along and support them at 12:30pm on the day.
